Chapter 16: Reconstruction Procedure for Hardware RAID

You must know the following:

  • Disk order.
  • Parity rotation if it is a RAID 5.
  • Block size.
  • The First Sector number of the RAID disk area.

Reconstruct the RAID

Reconstruct a RAID 5

  • Start File Scavenger. Select Quick Search. Click Advanced.
  • Select Striped Volume, With Parity. Choose the number of disks.
  • Select Hardware-based. Select a parity rotation pattern. Click OK.
  • Select the disks in the correct order. For each disk, specify a First Sector value and click Add. Click OK after all disks have been selected.
  • Choose a Block Size and click OK.
  • To recover data you need a Professional-Use license. See "Purchasing a License" In Chapter 6.

Use the Long Search if the Quick Search does not succeed.
