Properties or Preview
This dialog displays the properties of a selected volume, folder, or file. If a picture file (with the extension BMP, JPG, PNG, TIF, etc.) is being selected, the picture is displayed in reduced size.
File or Folder Properties
Filename
The file or folder name.
Folder
The parent folder.
Modified Date
The last modified date and time of the file (not available for folders).
Size
File or folder size.
File system record number
The file system internal file node number, such as ext4 inode number or NTFS record number.
MFT entry sector number
The position on disk of the file record (NTFS file system only).
Extents as NTFS runs
The data extents of the file displayed in NTFS "runs" format. You can right click on the runs and click "Show extents".
Volume Properties
Label
The label of the volume.
Volume
The drive letter if the volume is active or volume number if it is inactive. The
volume number indicates the order in which the volume is detected by File
Scavenger and has no other significance.
Starting sector
The starting sector of the volume.
Capacity
The total size of the volume including unused space.
File system
The file system of the volume. File Scavenger® currently supports NTFS,
FAT 32/16/12, exFAT, ReFS, ext2/3/4, HFS, HFS+, HFSX, UFS 1, UFS 2, XFS, VMFS, Btrfs and ZFS.
Recovery from FAT and FAT32 volumes usually provides mixed results.
