Load VMDK, VHD or VHDX files

Use this dialog to load a VMDK, VHD or VHDX file (hereafter called a virtual disk file). A virtual disk must consist of a base or parent virtual disk file. It may also have other accompanying delta link or differencing file which store only modified blocks in comparison to the base or parent.

On disk

Use this option and click Browse to load a standard virtual disk file.

Use physical disk extents

Use this option when the volume containing the virtual disk file is inaccessible in Windows Explorer but its physical extents on disk are known.

From scan

Use this option if the virtual disk file is inaccessible in Windows Explorer but has been found in a previous scan of an NTFS, ext4 or VMFS volume. The correct sequence of events to use this option is as follows:

• Scan the NTFS, ext4 or VMFS volume containing the virtual disk file.
• Select the file, right-click, and choose Use as a disk image file.
• Click the VMDK or VHD toolbar button (or choose from menu items) to display this dialog.

List of files

The first row contains the full path to the parent or base disk and cannot be empty. Subsequent rows contain delta link or differencing disk images from the oldest (second row) to the most recent (bottom row).

Add

Adds one more item to the list.

Remove

Removes the highlighted item from the list.

Move Up, Move Down

Rearranges the order of the items by moving the highlighted item up or down.
