Important Notice:
If you accidentally deleted a file and want to use File Scavenger to
undelete it, please:
- Stop any activities that may write to the disk the file was on. (The file you "deleted" still reside on the disk
until the system reuse the disk area for other files.)
- Do not install File Scavenger on the same disk. The installation will write to the disk and may destroy permanently the contents of the
deleted file. Permanent data loss may also occur if the deleted file resided on the system parition because Windows constantly
writes to the partition. In this case you may have to shutdown the computer and move the hard drive to another computer to recover the file.
- Extract files from the floppy version of File Scavenger to a floppy disk. This should be best done on another
computer.
- Insert the floppy disk in the computer and run File Scanvenger from there.
General Installation Instructions
- Extract the self-extracting setup files to a temporary directory.
- For hard drive installations, execute setup.exe and follow instructions in
the setup wizard.
For floppy installation, copy all extracted files from the temporary directory to a floppy.
- Register to obtain a license
for your copy of File Scavenger.
