Causes of Data Loss

  • Drive reformatting or deletion.
  • Drive corruption.
  • Badly damaged partitions.
  • Deletion of pictures from digital camera storage media.
  • Deletion of files from a network shared folder. (File Scavenger® must be run on the computer where the share is located.)
  • Deletion of files in a command window.
  • Deletion of files from Windows Explorer, including the Recycle Bin.
  • Broken RAIDs.

Types of Files

File Scavenger®:
  • Can recover all file types even though large and fragmented files such as databases and email folders are less likely to be recovered.
  • Is especially effective in recovering digital images in JPEG, TIFF and BMP format.
  • Can detect certain file types based on their data patterns, thus allowing recovery even when the file system structure is totally lost.
